Cost

The first and foremost decision point before deciding if or where to study MBBS in abroad is cost or expense. EU countries are more expensive than doing MBBS in countries such as the Philippines or Ukraine. However, the quality of education is the same. If you want to study at low cost and want good quality education, then the best country for studying MBBS is the Philippines. The Philippines has seen a rise in prominence and has seen more and more students going there to study. The reason is simple- it is inexpensive and offers a high quality of education making it one of the premier destination for studying MBBS from. Other options where the total cost is low includes Russia and Ukraine, both of which are European nations. Indian students have traditionally chosen these two countries but their preferences for studying MBBS from abroad are now changing. MBBS in Kyrgyzstan is another good alternative for Indian students. The quality of education is good and a large number of Indian students choose to study MBBS in Kyrgyzstan because education is cheap there.

MCI Recognition/Affiliation

A very important factor to consider while deciding the country is whether the college you choose is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or not. The reason is that you can appear for MCI screening test only if the MBBS degree you get is from a college recognized by the MCI. The list is also available on the MOE and the Medical Council of India (MCI) websites. For admission for MBBS in Kyrgyzstan, contact Global Medical Foundation.

Quality of Education

This point has already been slightly touched upon in the first point under cost. One of the major doubts that Indian aspirants have in their mind is whether the colleges provide good quality of education. The answer is YES! The colleges that we would tell you to take admission in will be recognized by MCI and World Health Organization (WHO). Not only this, they also have received affiliation for the many local and international bodies such as FAIMER.
The quality of education is better than private colleges in India and you can study in these colleges at a much cheaper cost, 75% less than what you pay to Indian private colleges. Countries such as the Philippines offers high-quality education to the students. The student gets global exposure and gets the opportunity to practice in some of the most developed countries in the world such as the US and the UK. The quality of education is very high in the Philippines and China.
In most countries, the last 1 year is the clinical rotation or internship. Students work with live patients in the hospitals affiliated with the university. You will get ample practical exposure while studying from abroad. There is a big misconception that practical’s are not given enough importance in foreign countries.

Hostel & Food

A big factor to consider before deciding where to do your MBBS from is the availability of neat, clean and comfortable accommodation along with the availability of Indian food- both vegetarian & non-vegetarian. Let us take one factor at a time, students don’t generally face the problem of finding accommodation as most colleges/universities have on-campus hostels. Where the hostel facility is not available, the universities generally
Country Duration of Course(Years)
have tie-ups with the surrounding area’s PGs and flats. The students can choose where he/she wishes to stay depending on the facilities he/she wants. Students usually stay in 2,3 or 4 sharing rooms to cut the costs. There is rarely any problem where the student is unable to find a proper accommodation. The charges of accommodation on an average is like that in India. It costs about 8-12 thousand per month on an average. Indian food is available aplenty in Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, China and Bangladesh. The mess serves Indian food in most colleges in these countries. The students can make their own food and can order it from Indian restaurants present locally. There are PGs which house Indian students only, you can guess that there will be no problem for Indian students to get the food they want.

Time Duration

While this might not seem like a factor to consider but it directly affects how much your total cost is. Here is a table showing the number of years it takes to complete the medical degree from different countries- Country Duration of Course(Years)

MBBS in Philippines: 5 or 5.5
MBBS in Russia: 6
MBBS in Ukraine: 6
MBBS in China: 5

Each extra year means one more year to complete your education and more tuition fees, accommodation and food expenses. One can select AMA School of Medicine, the Philippines where the total cost will be below 25 lakh for 5 years and the student will get high-quality education and study in a class of Indian students only. Studying in the Philippines is the best option for Indian students as the MCI passing rate is high and the cost is low. One can also consider other options like Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, and Bangladesh. Climate

The weather becomes an important factor as some students find it difficult to settle down in the climate of other countries. Russia and Ukraine have a colder weather with snowfall and temperature falling as low as -20° C. This is not a problem for most students as they enjoy the weather and the hostels and college campus are internally heated, you won’t know the difference. The weather is similar to that of India in the Philippines and other Asian countries. They have similar weathers and weather pattern. The student should keep in mind the weather of the country he/she wants to study MBBS from. For more information or any doubt/query regarding MBBS in abroad, contact Global Medical Foundation.

Safety

Regardless to say, it is a high-priority decision point for the students and their family’s perspective. It is safe for students to study MBBS in countries

Country | Offical Language | Medium of Instruction | Need to learn Local Language
like the Philippines, China, Russia or Ukraine. Mostly, big consultants like us have offices in the foreign countries. The students can reach out to these offices in case they face any problem. The students can take help from fellow Indian students in most cases. Most colleges have Foreign Student Associations in place to take care of the interests of these students. The campuses and hostels are safe for students. There is no discrimination in these countries. The students are safer studying MBBS in abroad than what they are in India.

Language & Medium of Education

Country | Offical Language | Medium of Instruction | Need to learn Local Language
MBBS in Philippines - English - English - No, as English is local language
MBBS in Russia - Russian - English & Russian Yes
MBBS in Ukraine - Ukrainian - English - Yes
MBBS in China- Mandarin- English - Yes - - No, Hindi is spoken too. Yes

Some students find it difficult to learn the foreign language and prefer to study in the Philippines or other Asian countries. MBBS in Abroad for Indian Students

It is the dream of lakhs of students to become a doctor one day. Especially in India, where the number of MBBS aspirants is huge but there are very less number of seats. There is a big scarcity of doctors in our country. Everyone knows that the potential to earn is huge after doing MBBS in Abroad or from India. Therefore more and more candidates appear for various MBBS entrance exams each year, while some of them try 3-4 years but still do not get admission where they want. There is only 1 government doctor per 11,528 people in India. Why do we have such a bad doctor-patient ratio? The problem is the large demand for MBBS seats in India but very low supply.
The number of government seats in India for MBBS is just 25,085 (in 2016). The number of students who appear for medical entrance exams is more than 7 lakh. This means only about 3.5% students get admission for MBBS in government colleges in India. According to a recent article by The Times of India, 99.4% of all candidates fail AIPMT every year. Against this, about 20% students who study MBBS from outside of India and appear for the screening test become a doctor every year. While there are about 38,000 private seats in India, they are marred by poor quality education, missing/ghost or no faculty, and huge donations.
It is not a secret that most private colleges demand more than 40 Lakh for just providing admission through management quota. Not everyone can afford such high charges. Added to this is the tuition fee which ranges between 8-12 Lakh per year. This means that college fees alone would cost you about 40-60 lakh rupees. Add your accommodation, food, books, travelling, other expenses and you will find yourself burning a hole in your pocket with total expense above 1 crore in 5 years for MBBS from a private college in India.
There is no guarantee that good hospitals will provide you a job offer. Most times it does not happen. The best way to go about your MBBS studies and to pursue your dream of becoming a doctor is by doing MBBS in abroad.
You might think whether studying MBBS from outside of India is the right choice? You can choose to study in these top destinations-
With the introduction of NEET, which will be the single exam for getting admission for MBBS, it is only going to get tougher for students to get in the top government MBBS colleges. There are students who choose a different path altogether and there are students who give repeat exams year after year to no avail. It is a better option to study MBBS from abroad after the first NEET attempt or two NEET attempts at most.
